8.4 Theoretical implications for the IPP
From a conceptual analysis, such as the one performed in this book, conclusions are also fairly theoretical and primarily concern epistemological issues regarding economy-environment interactions. Several issues have emerged many times throughout this book and merit mention here once again. These include three principal observations:
- the economy is embedded in the larger ecosystem (first introduced in subÂsection 3.3.1);
- human beings are not able fully to comprehend the interactions between these two systems (first introduced in subsection 3.4.1, in particular on page 73); and
- nature is driven by the three tele, the third of which is missing in the economy, which may be a reason for the overall lower efficiency of the latter (see section 4.3, in particular on page 95).
From these observations, the following implications arise.
